About the Item
"Guac" is an 11x14 original oil painting by artist Jonathan Stasko. Featured is a still life of the ingredients that go into making fresh guacamole. Avocado, red onion, garlic, and a silver bowl are resting on a table with a maroon tablecloth.
Jonathan grew up exploring the hills and valleys of Upstate New York. History in the Northeast is as rich as the soil of the valley where he still lives. It wound itself into his childhood fantasies and drawings. He became captivated by historical illustrations, acquiring a keen interest for narrative art. Supported in his passion by his family, he earned both Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in art from Pensacola Christian College. There, Jonathan was taught technical excellence- marrying an analytical mindset with creative vision. His artistic development continues by studying 19th century Masters, American illustrators and contemporary artists.
Jonathan’s art is in private and corporate collections across the country and internationally. He is represented by multiple galleries and shows regularly throughout the United States in exhibitions and competitions. In 2012 Jonathan appeared in Southwest Art magazine’s 21 Under 31 issue highlighting young emerging artists. Among other awards, he received the Gold Medal from the Oil Painters of America 24th National Juried Exhibition in 2015.
A fundamental part of Jonathan’s philosophy is that art should be constructive in its purpose. He believes one of art’s virtues is its ability to raise humankind in its understanding of the infinite and deeper in its compassion. In 2011 he joined with nationally notable artists to form an online event benefiting disaster flood relief in his community. Recent paintings helped raise funds to secure a safe, water solution for a Ugandan orphanage. Jonathan has partnered with The American Fallen Soldiers Project, creating portraits to honor and console families of fallen American heroes. He has also joined with Portrait Connection, an organization devoted to providing portraits for families with children facing medical challenges.
History is a second passion for Jonathan and he pursues the study and portrayal of it as a major theme in his work. Through his art, he hopes to present the human side of America's heritage- telling the inspirational stories of moral character and Providential grace that have cultivated the blessings Americans enjoy and that provide guidance for the history being made today.
Additional themes Jonathan continues exploring include the incredible gift of relationships and love through portraiture, the beauty and inspiration of rural New York and Adirondack landscapes, and daily encounters with God’s power and goodness. Jonathan’s desire is to enrich and inspire the lives of those who view his art as he strives to visually communicate truth and love.

Sean Farrell, "Morning Glory", 16x12 Pear Grapes Floral Still Life Oil Painting
Located in Saratoga Springs, NY
"Morning Glory", is a 16x12 oil painting on board by artist Sean Farrell. Featured are two pears on a pedestal mixed with freshly bloomed morning glories. Dramatic light combined with a dark background make this piece a bold and blooming composition. The rich blue of the flowers contrast nicely with the subtle tones of red found in the grapes.
About the artist:
“As I paint at my easel each day in the studio, I approach creating art with the idea of continually developing my artistic understanding and enhancing my personal expression,” writes Sean Farrell of his philosophy of life as an artist.
Farrell, who grew up in a small town where there were few opportunities for formal art education, began drawing on his own at a young age and through intense study of the great artists he found in library books began to nurture his innate talent. He writes of his younger years, “Looking at great paintings always excited me and by visiting museums [and] studying numerous art books…I gradually began to increase my artistic understanding,” which led Farrell to teach himself to paint with oils in the late 1980’s and then eventually to attend a painting workshop in New Mexico in the early 1990’s where he met numerous professional artists, who inspired him to a full-time artistic career.
Internationally, the prestigious Florence Biennale invited the artist to participate and exhibit work in Florence, Italy. NYARTS Magazine covered the exhibition and in their published review gave the following praise to the works of Sean Farrell… “Works deserving special attention was Sean Farrell’s exquisitely painted flower and fruit arrangements. Eye-catching with his use of dramatically bold colors mixed with delicate detail in a very modern old-master style.”
Choosing to travel extensively throughout Italy and also to other regions of Europe over attending art school, the artist has studied and learned from the great master works in the history of art. His paintings reveal his affection for the 17th century Italian and Dutch painters while still remaining truly unique. Mr. Farrell’s works are distinctive for their elegant and graceful compositions, his rich jewel like color, and an elevated sensitivity to the beautiful nuances of light. His works reveal a master’s touch and a quiet ease.
Sean Farrell is internationally recognized and a highly collected artist. He is known for his vivid and luminous oil paintings...
