A selection of pale bottles and pots. This large feature contemporary oil painting is a largely tonal work in blues and greys.
Colour is the dominant driver in all Jonquil Williamson works, creating vibrant still life and rich tonal landscapes. Following a Diploma in Art and Design in 2013, she joined the vibrant artists’ community, Wimbledon Art Studios and works and shows her work there alongside Wychwood Art. She works daily from her home studio in Surrey and at Wimbledon Art Studios in South West London. She comments “My paintings, created using oil paint, are inspired initially by colours I observe in the landscape and things around me. Although my work is mostly representational, I allow the mark-making and textures created as I layer the paint, to inform the image. My focus is the sense of place, or essence of the object rather than a strict representation of it."

Jonquil Williamson
Jonquil Williamson is a British artist who lives and works in London. She began to develop her skills while attending a Diploma in Art and Design in 2013. Following on from this Jonquil joined the Wimbledon Art Studios Colour is the dominant driver in Jonquil’s works, creating vibrant still life and rich tonal landscapes. Although her work is mostly representational, she allows the mark-making and textures created as she layers the paint, to inform the image. Her focus is the sense of place or essence of the object rather than a strict representation of it. Jonquil’s work is highly acclaimed, having been shortlisted for the Visual Art Open competition twice (2017 & 2018) and exhibited with selected shortlisted works in the National Open Art Prize 2016. Her work is collected around the world.

Deborah Windsor, painter and printmaker, is available for sale online and in our art gallery at Wychwood Art. Deborah grew up in the Kent countryside surrounded by animals and nature and started painting with her mother who was a portrait painter at a very young age. After art college Deborah co-founded a ran a successful ceramic design business in Portobello Road, London, designing, making and selling contemporary ceramics and undertaking commissions for well know media clients. Moving back to Kent in her thirties Deborah taught art and returning to painting, her first love, developed her still-life painting style. Deborah works in oil and acrylics building up her paintings with layers and washes to achieve depth and richness. Pattern, texture, decoration, shapes and colour are all important elements in her work. Working from life is vital to Deborah so that she can capture the essence of her subject. Jugs and vases spill over with fresh flowers and she will often paint part of one of her abstract paintings in the background to add an extra element to the composition. Deborah’s work features vintage china and fabrics from her collections which with her mainly gentle colour palette give her work a homely, peaceful feeling.
