The Post described, “One night Art Editor Stuart was having a party. His three boys came downstairs four times and were conducted back up by their mother. The next time they came down, Papa Stuart waxed excited, firmly conveyed them aloft himself, and they did not show up again. Stuart was warmly congratulated on his success as a father. When the party broke up, the youngest lad was found asleep on the stairs. Stuart claims that the older ones never did come down again, but this was probably because they merely went to sleep in their beds from natural causes. George Hugehes has painted some other people’s offspring, to get over the idea that children all over America are eager to improve their minds by listening to sophisticated conversation.”

The original cover for The Saturday Evening Post, In The Dentist’s Chair, published on October 19, 1957, embodies Ard’s characteristic wit and attention to detail. The young man, still wearing a toy pistol in a holster, seems to have been torn from playing a cowboy with his friends. Having just completed his x-rays, which hang on the wall behind him, the boy awaits the arrival of the dentist to determine his fate.
Interestingly, the Post editors empathize with the dentist rather than the patient. The Post describes: “Dentists are to be pitied. How would you like to be greeted by horrified faces like this from morn till night throughout your professional career? Dentists are kindly, humane souls who love their fellowmen, minister constructively to their grinders, and seldom hurt the faint-hearts much while doing it–yet their only reward, besides a fee, is those eternal faces, staring, staring upward as if at an ogre. Aaron Bohrod's work has not been limited to one style or medium. Initially recognized as a regionalist painter of American scenes, particularly of his native Chicago, Bohrod later devoted himself to detailed still-life paintings rendered in the trompe l'oeil style. He also worked for several years in ceramics and wrote a book on pottery.
Born in 1907, Bohrod began his studies at Chicago's Crane Junior College in 1925, and two years later enrolled in the Art Institute of Chicago.
