Trudy Benson’s large-scale, abstract paintings are born from a range of influences including abstract expressionism, Op art, hard-edge painting and early computer graphics. Benson’s canvases seem to buzz with energy as she uses a combination of methods (from airbrushing to thick impasto straight from the tube) to apply the paint, resulting in a richly textured surface that captivates the eye. A native Virginian, Benson currently lives and works in Brooklyn.
