James Auer, 76, died Dec. 17, 2004. He was an art critic for the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel.
Auer first joined Society of Professional Journalist in 1970. Auer went to The Milwaukee Journal in 1972 as art editor. The Journal-Sentinel reported that during his time at the papers, Auer wrote about everything, "including movies, theater, history and obituaries of the rich, famous and artful."

James Auer was born on December 2, 1928 in Neenah, Wisconsin. He was an art critic for the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel. Auer first joined the Society of Professional Journalists in 1970. The newspaper reported that during his time at the papers, Auer wrote about everything, including movies, theater, history and obituaries of the rich, famous and artful. Auer passed away on December 17, 2004.
