Figures silhouetted by extreme lighting yield a dramatic and powerful view of New York City life. This is a stunning example of Mitchell Funk blending the abstract with the representational. He is one of the few photographers working today who constructs his photographs around dramatic lighting and precise and unexpected compositions. Signed and numbered 3/15 lower right recto, Dated and titled on verso, other sizes available, unframed. Printed on Hahnemühle Fine Art paper

Mitchell Funk brings the compositional precision of studio photography to street photography. Unlike most street photographers, Funk is an abstractionist while being a documentarian. Mitchell Funk is a pioneer of " Color Photography" In 1970 he participated in one the first " Color Photography" shows at a major museum. Mitchell Funk
Mitchell Funk is a pioneer of color photography. In 1970, he participated in one of the first color photography shows at the Brooklyn Museum titled “Images en Couleur." In 1971, he was included in the visionary books Frontiers of Photography and Color (Life Library of Photography), both published by Time-Life. He has done more than 50 photography magazine covers, including covers for Newsweek and Life.
