Robert FunkPlant Portrait, Rain Forest Green Tropical Plants Red Light Blur2016
2016
About the Item
The road to Coconut Grove is adorned with green lush tropical rainforest plants. One of the most graphic is the alocasia macrorrhizos. They function as shapes as much as they do as wide areas of green color. This image is a lyrical union of nature and man. The luscious back-lit green coalesces with two blurred spots of red from a passing car's rear lights. The viewer of this image finds elegance and opulence in a simple display of nature. A second theme of the image is that it is a Plant Portrait.
The work is signed, numbered 3/15, dated, and titled lr. Printed later, unframed, Printed on Hahnemühle Fine Art paper. Other sizes Available.
The video color is off. Use the still images as a reference for more accurate color.

Scars of birthing in the unfolding leaf pattern of the giant graceful Agave. The sensual contradictions of silken flesh and the protective spines are a contemplation of motherhood's journey, the unfolding narrative impressed eternally upon the skin.
Sophia's poetic photographs are an exploration of the balance in all things: in the sensual interplay of light and shadow; in wild raw energy and serene stillness; in joy and pain; in the enduring and the effervescent. They are a contemplation of the awareness that everything in existence is temporary, they speak of the ephemeral nature of all things. Moments, feelings, experiences cherished and appreciated in their impermanence, for that is where the beauty comes from. 'I work with time, and the immeasurable spaces of experience within... tangible traces, evidence left behind, records; process in action, stilled'.
