About the Item

Dusk (Deconstructivism) - 2015 - about the narrative potential of images. 40x48cm, Edition of 10 plus 2 Artist Proofs. Archival C-Print, based on the original Polaroid. Signature label and Certificate. Artist Inventory 20274. Not mounted. Schneider's series 'DECONSTRUCTIVISM' is a study in abstraction and fragmentation. The photographs feature fragments of images, often blurred or distorted, creating a sense of ambiguity and unreality. The use of expired Polaroid film further contributes to the abstract quality of the series, with the unpredictable effects of the medium enhancing the otherworldly feeling of the images. Despite the fragmented nature of the photographs, there is a sense of narrative and emotion that runs through the series. The images suggest a world in flux, in which the past is constantly being rewritten and the future is uncertain. By deconstructing the conventional modes of photographic representation, Schneider invites the viewer to engage with the images on a deeper, more intuitive level, where meaning is not fixed but constantly shifting. The abstract quality of the images suggests a world that is both familiar and alien, with the past and present merging into one another. The blurred and distorted figures and landscapes create a sense of movement and dynamism, as if the images are alive and constantly in motion. There is a sense of urgency and immediacy to the photographs, as if they are capturing a moment that is fleeting and ephemeral. In 'DECONSTRUCTIVISM', Schneider explores the limits of photographic representation and challenges our assumptions about what a photograph can be. By embracing the imperfections and flaws of the medium, she creates images that are both beautiful and unsettling, evocative of a world that is both real and imaginary. The series invites us to question the nature of perception and the ways in which we construct meaning from the images that surround us.
