This early 1949 image of Marilyn Monroe on “Red Velvet” was shot by Tom Kelly, Hollywood celebrity photographer, 1940’s – 1950’s. Some of Kelley's most famous photo subjects have included: Gary Cooper, Greta Garbo, James Cagney, Clark Gable, Winston Churchill, Bob Hope, Marlene Dietrich, Joan Crawford, Jack Benny, David Bowie, John F. Kennedy, Dwight D. Eisenhower, Franklin D. Roosevelt and Marilyn Monroe, with and without clothes. His wife came with him to female shoots to create a more soothing and relaxed atmosphere. “Red Velvet” was purchased by Hugh Hefner and graced the first issue of Playboy Magazine as the centerfold in December 1953. The image is one of three nude images of Marilyn Monroe ever published and coveted by collectors worldwide. This image is part of the original Playboy Legacy Collection, printed in 2007. Playboy founder, Hugh Heffner “Heff” (1926-2017) authorized the creation of “The Playboy Legacy Collection” consisting of 48 gallery quality prints. Heffner personally chose each image based on his perception of their iconic splendor and timeless appeal. Heffner divided the 48 images into three, 16 image suites, to roughly track the chronological timeline of the storied Playboy magazine publication. The collection was produced under license agreement with Playboy Enterprises by International Images founder, Norman Solomon in 2007. The collection was released in a limited-edition boxed set format of all 48 images, in either 16x20 or 20x24 size. All images bear the iconic Playboy Bunny Seal of Authenticity, representing the best of the magazines Playmates of the Year. Beginning with the 1953 Marilyn Monroe centerfold, it became coveted by collectors worldwide. This Print is Certified by International Images as an Original archival C-type print from the Playboy Legacy Collection, printed in 2007, and as one of eight signed by Hugh Hefner. This print comes with a Certificate of Authenticity, bearing the official, embossed Playboy Bunny Logo seal. Wall Art, Interior Design, Legendary Celebrity, Hollywood Actress.
