Gérard Uféras
Scala V - Ballerina in Tutu Running, Fine Art Photography

About the Item

Ballerina in a white Tutu running backstage at Scala Milan, photographed by Gérard Uféras. All prints are limited edition. Available in multiple sizes. High-end framing on request. All prints are done and signed by the artist. The collector receives an additional certificate of authenticity from the gallery. In "Scala V", acclaimed French photographer Gérard Uféras captures the ephemeral grace of ballet with masterful abstraction. This image, part of his celebrated series documenting the backstage life at Teatro alla Scala in Milan, evokes the fleeting beauty of motion and the discipline behind performance. Through intentional blur and soft focus, Uféras transforms a dancer mid-pirouette into a dreamlike figure—an ethereal presence suspended between effort and elegance. The photograph transcends literal representation, inviting viewers into a poetic meditation on the transitory nature of art, movement, and the devotion that fuels both. Daring women, teint de porcelaine and delicate tracings in silver; the French star photographer Gérard Uféras creates masterpieces radiant with a certain je-ne-sais-quoi. Moving the noise of everyday life into the background for a moment, his works are aesthetic oases for the senses. Curving down an exposed back, delineating delicate lines, or an ephemeral smile: Uféras is the connoisseur of fashion and ballet photography. His works are an homage to female elegance, playfulness, and jest. PREISS FINE ARTS celebrates 15 years of successful collaborations with only the most esteemed photographers and collectors. "Feels Good" Polar Bear Photograph - Signed and Numbered Limited Edition
By Thomas Mangelsen
Located in Soquel, CA
Signed and numbered limited edition photograph of a polar bear by Thomas Mangelsen (American, b. 1945). Signed "Thomas Mangelsen" in the lower right corner and numbered "794/950" in the lower left corner. This particular image is no longer produced. Presented in a double mat of light grey and tan, in a wood frame. Image size: approx. 21"H x 31"W Renowned American nature and wildlife photographer Thomas D. Mangelsen (American, b. 1945) has traveled throughout the natural world for over 40 years observing and photographing the Earth’s last great wild places. A Nebraska native, Mangelsen’s love of nature, his life outdoors and business success were heavily influenced by his father. An avid sportsman, Harold Mangelsen took his sons to favorite blinds along the Platte River in Nebraska to observe the great flocks of ducks, geese and cranes that migrate through the valley. From these adventures, Mangelsen learned important lessons for photographing in the field, most notably patience and understanding animal behavior. In 1965, Mangelsen began studying business at the University of Nebraska. In 1967, Tom transferred to Doane College in Crete, Nebraska, where he changed his major and graduated with a bachelor’s degree in biology. Tom continued postgraduate study in zoology and wildlife biology at the University of Nebraska and Colorado State University. In 1970 Mangelsen moved to Nederland, Colorado. He spent two years living in the Rocky Mountains in an old mining shack without electricity or running water with his English setter, black lab and raccoon. Tom continued to work on his photography and studied arctic alpine ecology at the University of Colorado’s Mountain Research Station near Nederland. There he met Bert Kempers, a CU film producer, who later hired Tom as cinematographer and film editor for his company Westwind Productions, making educational and nature documentaries. Tom longed...
