Fernando Natalici Al Goldstein New York 1979
By Fernando Natalici
Located in NEW YORK, NY
Al Goldstein by heralded New York underground photographer Fernando Natalici Silver Gelatin Print, c.1979. 11x14 inches. Hand signed & dated on the verso from an edition of 2. Some minor residue or fading to edges and minor signs of handling; otherwise in very good condition for its age. Al Goldstein: If Hugh Hefner strove to put a sleek, air-brushed image on sexual freedom in the 1960s, rival publisher Al Goldstein was the polar opposite. Unabashedly abrasive and foul-mouthed, the cigar-chomping, a larger than life Goldstein called his explicit magazine Screw. When he co-founded Screw in 1968, the American legal system was embroiled in a battle over what constitutes obscenity. Goldstein never envisioned himself as a champion of free speech, but fought for what he said were his own prurient interests. The porn magazine's scathing, scatological editorials railed against religious leaders and the government for justifying war while imprisoning erotic magazine...

June Newton, also known under the pseudonym of Alice Springs, is an Australian actress and Photographer most known for her Portrait photography. She was also the wife of the famous photographer Helmut Newton. Andrée Putman was a French interior Architect and Designer. Roxanne Lowit photographed the artists together at Restaurant Les Bouchons in Paris. They sit at a table, leaning together as they reapply their Lipstick. Roxanne Lowits Works let us experience the fabulous world of art and fashion in the 80s and 90s. In a time long before Social Media, she captured culturally significant Moments and Iconic friendships on film. Daring poses, red lips, crooked smiles, and sex appeal characterize the photographic oeuvre of the late Roxanne Lowit. Catapulting us straight back into a decade of excess and ecstasy, her unfiltered lens into the 90s reveals more than ever. Uninterested in glossy façades, the star photographer captured the unseen without being voyeuristic. Eternalizing the prime of supermodel culture with Kate Moss and Naomie Campbell, enfant terribles of the art circus...
