About the Item
Bathed in the warm glow of late afternoon light, the Mid-Town Manhattan skyline glitters in a rich palette of gold and magenta.
In the foreground, the Empire State Building rises like a rocket ship about to launch. To the right, the crown of the Chrysler Building peeks out from surrounding structures. The present work was taken twenty-seven years ago before the rapid expansion of the skyline. This allowed Photographer Mitchell Funk to create an image in which New York's two most famous buildings tête-à-tête with each other in a clean and uninterrupted space.
The work is signed dated and numbered 2/15 lower right recto, with other sizes available, and it's unframed and printed later. Printed on Hahnemühle Fine Art paper Mitchell Funk is an abstractionist while being a documentarian

Mitchell Funk
Mitchell Funk is a pioneer of color photography. In 1970, he participated in one of the first color photography shows at the Brooklyn Museum titled “Images en Couleur." In 1971, he was included in the visionary books Frontiers of Photography and Color (Life Library of Photography), both published by Time-Life. He has done more than 50 photography magazine covers, including covers for Newsweek and Life.
