Vicki McKenna's 'Colors of the Sea at Rousay' is a digital file, 7360x4912, of an intimate landscape photograph of the meeting of rock and ocean combining the subtle browns and greys on the rock with the vibrant blues and greens of the ocean. A long exposure time highlights the details in the rock and gives the water a mystical quality, removing the details of each wave and only representing the color. This photograph is offered as a one-time use digital file at sufficient resolution to produce a quality print at 30x42 inches.
As a geologist and teacher, Vicki McKenna started taking photographs to illustrate concepts to her students, but soon became intrigued by the challenges of representing a three-dimensional world with an engaging, two-dimensional image. While it is not surprising that McKenna is drawn to photograph the natural landscape, her interests are broad-ranging, and a fascination with architecture means she is also interested in the built environment.
