About the Item
This piece is an original color photograph that was hand developed from the original negative by Bert Stern. This photo is part of The Last Sitting portfolio, taken six weeks before Marilyn Monroe’s death in 1962 and published in the 1970s. This sitting took place over three days at the Bel Air Hotel in Los Angeles and yielded over 2,500 images. Ten images were selected for the portfolio and printed in a limited edition of 250 plus Artist's Proofs.
This piece is hand signed and is unframed. The image measures 19 x 18.5 inches and the sheet measures 24 x 20 inches.

Bert Stern
Bert Stern grew up in Brooklyn, New York. He dropped out of school at the age of 16 and went on to become the art director for Mayfair Magazine. Stern photographed many other iconic female celebrities, including Audrey Hepburn, Elizabeth Taylor, Madonna and Kylie Minogue, but will always be remembered for his captivating images of Marilyn Monroe.
