Laura Lloyd is a fine art photographer based in Kansas City, MO. She was a professional journalist before she turned her attention to photography about 10 years ago. She is primarily self-taught. She finds visual communication to be as satisfying as working with words, and it offers layers of unique mystery . Much of her displayed work has focused on botanicals, with an emphasis on native plants growing in the Kansas City area. She makes photographs with a mirrorless, full-frame digital camera and also her Android phone. She works with just a couple of lenses and a tripod, eschewing the ever-expanding world of photographic equipment. She makes many esthetic adjustments in digital post production. Still, she will always have a soft spot for silver gelatin prints, although she leaves that tedious and technical labor to others. Her work has been displayed at galleries and in shows on both the East and West coasts as well as locally and regionally in galleries, businesses and libraries. She has spent most of her life in Brookside and is the mother of three adult daughters.
