About the Item

Alexander Calder (after) Calder #1, 2001 100% silk scarf 33 × 35 inches - when unfolded and fully opened (Measures 10 square inches when folded and shipped) Plate (printed) signature Unframed According to the accompanying label, in 1949 Calder was commissioned by the New York firm Laverne Originals to create two designs for use as fabric and wallpaper. The present design - Calder # 1, a beautiful silk scarf, was re-introduced by Paperball in 2001 with special authorization from the Estate of Alexander Calder. It is a great conversation piece and a lovely vintage piece of fashion design and wearable art. A mid-century modern design, reprised in 2001 for 21st century fashionistas and collectors.
