About the Item
Concordancia is a beautiful lithograph realized by Eduardo Chillida in 1960.
Lithograph on vellum BFK Rives. Editions Maeght, Paris.
Hand-signed and numbered by the artist on the lower left in pencil. Edition 30/150
This contemporary lithograph shows an abstract composition that recall a sculpted shape. As a matter of fact, the artist was a great Spanish sculptor, and his paintings and graphic works reflect the different materials of his sculptures.
Eduardo Chillida (San Sebastian, 1924 – 2002) was a Spanish-Basque sculptor and graphic artist. In 1943, Chillida began studying architecture and, in 1947, he attended the private art academy "Circulo de Bellas Artes" in Madrid. In his earliest works, he used gypsum and clay. In 1949, during his stay in Paris, the artist began working on iron sculptures. During these years, his sculptures reflected his views on sculptural art, and space became the focus of his attention. Afterward, he began realizing graphic artworks. Over the following years, Eduardo Chillida became a renowned sculptor and graphic artist. He participated in numerous international exhibitions, and his works were presented at several Documenta exhibitions and at various Biennals.

Eduardo Chillida
Eduardo Chillida studied in Madrid and then went to Paris, where he was influenced by Pablo Palazuelo in his first figurative work, done in plaster and clay. Other influences were Frank Lloyd Wright, Albert Giacometti and Joan Miro. In 1950, he began doing printmaking lithography, woodcuts, etchings, drypoints and silkscreens. His graphics are not related to his sculpture but are creative expressions unto themselves. During the 60s, his graphics tended to be massive black lines on white, giving the appearance of realistic shapes.
