About the Item
Peterdi, Gabor (American, born Hungary, 19150-2001) . BLOOMING ICE. Combined technique (intaglio and screenprint) in six colors, 1965. P.228. Edition of 25. 20 x 32 inches, 504 x 813 mm. In excellent condition.
Peterdi was both a painter and a printmaker. As a printmaker he was noted for his innovative techniques. He authored several books about printmaking, and was an influential teacher at Hunter College, the Brooklyn Museum, NYU, and at Yale, where he was appointed as a Professor in 1960.
This work, with its abstracted forms and strong colors is an example of Mid-Century Modernism at its best.
