About the Item
Abstract Composition is an etching and collage on paper realized by Hans Richter in 1973.
Published by La Nuova Foglio, a publishing house of Macerata.
Monogrammed by Frida Richter and numbered in pencil on the lower margin. Edition number 29/99.
Good conditions.
On the lower left margin of the back, there are a dry-stamp of the publishing house and a black-ink stamp " Estate Hans Richter " ; on the lower right margin the guarantee certificate by La Nuova Foglio.
From a portfolio of seven etchings published by The New Sheet under the supervision of Hans Richer, who signed for each " bon à tirer " before his death, which took place in Locarno on 1 February 1976. Due to the disappearance of the master, the engravings were subsequently signed by Mrs. Frida Richter , who had followed the work together with her husband.
Hans Richter (Berlin 1888.1976) was a German director, painter and writer. Director, film theorist and one of the greatest experimenters of cinematic aesthetics. Starting from pictorial experiences of abstract orientation, he dedicated his research from the beginning to the need to articulate the figurative space in a movement that went beyond the limits of the traditional framework.

Hans Richter was a German painter, director, historian and theorist of experimental cinema. He is among the greatest exponents of the historical Avant-garde. Richter was one of the first artists to question the relationship between painting and cinema and to make abstract films in the early 1920s.
