About the Item

Honey Bear with Coffee by San Francisco Street Artist fnnch Iconic honeybear holding a cup of coffee by fnnch (American, b. 1986). The honey bear series was launched during covid lockdown as an interactive, enjoyable way to encourage socially distant connection and physical activity - he published a map with honey bear locations, calling it the "Honey Bear Hunt." As the bears gained popularity, fnnch created many versions of the honey bear, each with an individual twist. Signed, numbered, and dated on verso: fnnch 170/335 2021 Unframed. Born in St. Louis MO in 1986, fnnch is an anonymous American street artist now based in San Francisco. When he first moved to the Bay Area, fnnch became infatuated with the multitude of street art but felt that it was a form of art that lacked a wide range of visual representation. He also recognized the inaccessibility of fine art museums for a large portion of the general public, and saw street art as a movement that could showcase art that is free and out there for everyone to enjoy. With this motivation, fnnch hit the streets with multi-layered stencils and spray paint and now, years later his murals have inspired the masses while connecting and energizing thousands of people worldwide. Self identifying as a contemporary pop artist, fnnch paints a variety of pop and street art imagery, but is most famous for his honey bear series that he calls "symbols of happiness.” His murals can be found in San Francisco, LA, New York, Miami, Chicago, St. Louis, Tel Aviv and Hong Kong. He has built a strong worldwide following with over 90k followers on Instagram and has been featured in The New York Times, Washington Post, San Francisco Chronicle and VICE, as well as represented by brands like J.Crew, TOMS Shoes, and Benefit Cosmetics.

"Feels Good" Polar Bear Photograph - Signed and Numbered Limited Edition
By Thomas Mangelsen
Located in Soquel, CA
Signed and numbered limited edition photograph of a polar bear by Thomas Mangelsen (American, b. 1945). Signed "Thomas Mangelsen" in the lower right corner and numbered "794/950" in the lower left corner. This particular image is no longer produced. Presented in a double mat of light grey and tan, in a wood frame. Image size: approx. 21"H x 31"W Renowned American nature and wildlife photographer Thomas D. Mangelsen (American, b. 1945) has traveled throughout the natural world for over 40 years observing and photographing the Earth’s last great wild places. A Nebraska native, Mangelsen’s love of nature, his life outdoors and business success were heavily influenced by his father. An avid sportsman, Harold Mangelsen took his sons to favorite blinds along the Platte River in Nebraska to observe the great flocks of ducks, geese and cranes that migrate through the valley. From these adventures, Mangelsen learned important lessons for photographing in the field, most notably patience and understanding animal behavior. In 1965, Mangelsen began studying business at the University of Nebraska. In 1967, Tom transferred to Doane College in Crete, Nebraska, where he changed his major and graduated with a bachelor’s degree in biology. Tom continued postgraduate study in zoology and wildlife biology at the University of Nebraska and Colorado State University. In 1970 Mangelsen moved to Nederland, Colorado. He spent two years living in the Rocky Mountains in an old mining shack without electricity or running water with his English setter, black lab and raccoon. Tom continued to work on his photography and studied arctic alpine ecology at the University of Colorado’s Mountain Research Station near Nederland. There he met Bert Kempers, a CU film producer, who later hired Tom as cinematographer and film editor for his company Westwind Productions, making educational and nature documentaries. Tom longed...
