About the Item
Spring is definitely in the air when cherry trees are in bloom. Lusciously pink and so heady. Clambering through a riot of colour, a bear cub gazes at a yellow butterfly as a couple of bees collect pollen above. This 6 colour silkscreen is printed on Somerset satin, a heavyweight 300 gram handmade paper from St Cuthbert's Mill in Somerset. The print is created by printing each colour separately, gradually building up the image.

Using these guides, he express's how he see's and experiences the world. This he does mostly through the use of narrative within a landscape using either the human or animal form to create a narrative. He strives to make work which is delicate and shows a lightness of touch along with an eye for detail. He also uses the language of drawing and mark-making in an attempt to describe emotional depth and atmosphere.

Tim Southall
Tim Southall was born in Staffordshire in 1961. He studied Fine Art at Northumbria University and then printmaking Royal College of Art and École des beaux art, Paris. Based in London for 20 years, Southall now splits his time between London and his house and studio in Cadiz Province, southern Spain. The base upon which he builds his work is metaphysics, existence, objects and their properties, space and time, cause and effect and possibility.
