Rome, Palatine Hill is a wonderful etching and dry-point on paper by realized by Cesare Biseo in 1898.
Hand-signed and dated with the description on the lower in pencil.
In very good conditions, except for folding on the margins and samll ripping on whitish part of frame which does not affect the image.
Original print, with magnificent view of Palatin Hill in Rome, created by mastery through perfect appliying of chiaroscuro.
Cesare Biseo (Rome, 1843 - 1909)
Son and pupil of Gian Battista Biseo, Cesare Biseo was an orientalist painter of great emotional depth and of great chromatic richness. At the invitation of the viceroy of Egypt, he went to Alexandria, where he made frescoes for the Government Palace. In 1875, with Edmondo De Amicis and with Stefano Ussi, he went to Morocco as a member of an Italian diplomatic mission. He produced illustrations for the books by E. De Amicis. He also studied etching and engraving techniques, referring to the Roman views by Piranesi. He is remembered and appreciated thanks to his work In The Desert, held in Rome, at the National Gallery of Modern Art.
