Beggars is an original Modern artwork realized in the first decades of the 19th Century by Dominique Vivant Denon (Chalon-sur-Saône, 1747 - Paris, 1825).

Excellent artwork on paper that depicts two figures of beggars. The work is an exellent proof of freshness realized by the French artist Dominique Vivant Denon (Chalon-sur-Saône, 1747 - Paris, 1825). He was a French writer, engraver, art historian, Egyptologist and administrator. He is considered one of the forerunners of museology and art history. He arrived in Paris, where he began his studies in law without finishing them, he wrote a comedy Julie or the good father in 1769, but was especially noted as an excellent conversationalist. Louis XV appointed him, among other things, Secretary of the Embassy in St. Petersburg. With the advent of Louis XVI he was sent first to Sweden, then to Switzerland in 1775. Meanwhile he wrote a libertine tale, Point de lendemain (Without tomorrow), which appeared in 1777.
