About the Item

Original, limited edition color etching, new to market. Making contact with a textured green ground, a larger pair of feet supports a smaller pair that are perched atop of them. We sense the intimacy of this act and appreciate the unusual viewpoint that the artist has chosen. The colors are softer and brighter than can be photographed, adding to the dreamlike quality of the artwork. This print is based on the Clemente painting titled “Something I Heard” (see image, included above), and was printed by Harlan & Weaver in New York City in a limited edition of 50 works in 2003. No works from this edition have ever been publicly for sale until this presentation. Each work is signed and hand-numbered in pencil by the artist. The artist chose a very light pencil for his signature, so as not to distract from the hushed tonality of the print. All known examples of this limited edition were presented as a gift of friendship to the incomparable kd lang by Francesco Clemente himself to support her philanthropic endeavors. This print is being sold at the request of kd lang to benefit the nonprofit American Foundation for Tibetan Cultural Preservation, (Ari Bhöd), and all net funds will go directly to this nonprofit. As a unique bonus, kd lang has generously offered to hand write the buyer a personalized thank-you note in gratitude for supporting Ari Bhöd in its fundraising effort. The note would be sent separately, and would make each print a unique and personalized holiday gift, especially if the recipient is among the millions of worldwide fans of kd lang and her once-in-a-generation voice. Three-color, soft ground etching on heavy cotton paper. Biographical note courtesy Harlan & Weaver: Francesco Clemente (b.1952) is a prolific Italian contemporary artist whose nomadic life- from Naples to Rome, India, and New York - has shaped a richly symbolic, global artistic language. Emerging in the Transavanguardia movement, his work blends folklore, spirituality, auto-mythography, and expressionist figuration. With a career spanning five decades, his art continues to resonate through its cultural synthesis, and profound, poetic vision.
