Signed lower right in pencil: J Toorop; by later hand
Toorop's model for this print was Marguerite Adolphine Helfrich (later married to F.W.J.G. Snijder van Wissenkerke).
An impression of the final state (iv/IV) with the double signature done in drypoint in the bottom right of the plate.
Printed in 1928 by Kunsthandel J.G. Nieuwenhuizen Segaar, posthumously.
The National Gallery of Art, Washington, has an idnetical impression of this posthumous printing.

Reference: Toorop No. 29 iv/IV
Note: A posthumous edition of twenty-five impressions of the fourth and final state was printed in 1928 by Kunsthandel J.G. Nieuwenhuizen Segaar. The plate is now in The Rijksprentenkabinet.
In the third state (iii/IV) there was an edition of 15 impressions. Total edition of 85 impressions in all states (per NGA)
Impressions of this image are found in the Rijksprentenkabinet and the National Gallery of Art, Washington.

Jan Toorop
Jan Toorop was one of the most important Dutch artists in the period between 1875–1915. He started painting in the Impressionist style, switched to Pointillism around 1890 and finally evolved into painting in the Symbolist style. His work is widely collected and present in all important museums in the Netherlands, including Rijksmuseum, Amsterdam, Boijmans Van Beuningen, Rotterdam, Kröller-Müller Museum, Otterlo and the Van Gogh Museum, Amsterdam.
