Le Grand prêtre Coresus is an artwork realized by Jérôme Danzel in the second half of the XVIII Century.
Burin after Fragonard's artwork "Coresus et Calliroe".
Good conditions except for an abrasion on the lower left margin.
Very intense and fresh impression representing the episode of Coresus and Calliroe represented in the famous artwork of Jean-Honoré Fragonard in the second half of the XVIII Century. The impression, realized in burin, is very contrasting and, on the lower margin, a long written with the header.
Jérôme Danzel was a French artist and engraver (Abbeville, 1755 - Paris, 1810) was a pupil of Flipart. His best-known works include: Rape of Proserpina and Venus and Adonis after J. Bethon; Venus and Aeneas after Boizot; Vulcan Giving Venus Weapons for Aeneas after François Boucher and Coroesus the Priest after Fragonard.
