About the Item
The world was Bendiner's oyster, but here he shows us a all we need in a small corner of Paris. It's charming and safe: the 'Flic et Bonne' (gendarme and nursemaid) are together, going about their daily lives. This is happy, post-WWII image.
From a proposed edition of 20. This impression is signed, titled, and numbered, in pencil. It is also titled in pencil on the reverse, in another hand.
The lettering on the signs on the kiosk is all in reverse. That means that the artist wrote in the normal direction on the stone so they came out in reverse. He would have had to put them in reverse to come out correctly. My guess is that when he realized that they were incorrect, but also so many, he decided to leave it.
