About the Item

One of America's most popular and successful artists with a take on the world's favorite city with "Cafe de la Paix." A prized serigraph of his, since not everyone loves sports art (and he did a lot of those) but everyone loves Paris. This is not only signed, but it is one of the Artist's Proofs from the series (as shown on label and Neiman's own pencil mark "AP") - which means it was one of the copies the artist kept for himself for friends and family. The label, in fact, says it's from the painter's personal collection, which I cannot verify. There were 300 numbered prints, 50 Artist's Proofs and 9 Printer's Proofs total. VERY expensive and complex beveled matting and framing. 57" x 44/5 inches framed, print measures 27.5" x 39.5" without the frame. I have included an ad for one of these from another gallery (they're asking $9,500). Here's the formal description: Leroy Neiman (1921-2012), "Cafe de la Paix," 1980, serigraph, Artist's Proof, pencil signed lower right margin, pencil marked "AP" lower left margin, presented in a wide silvered gilt frame with a wide linen liner, with a silvered nameplate: "LeRoy Neiman, Cafe de La Paix, 1980, from the Personal Collection of Leroy Neiman," H.- 27 1/2 in., W.- 39 1/2 in. Proudly presented by Guy Lyman Fine Art, New Orleans, with our firm guarantee of satisfaction.
