Original hand colored lithograph by the French artist, Maurice Jacque of the Place du Tertre in Montmartre Paris, France. Signed in lower right margin. Titled in lower left margin. Circa 1900. Condition is excellent. Sheet size: 14 by 11 inches. The artwork is under glass in a thin black frame. Overall framed measurements are 15 by 12 inches. Provenance: A New Jersey collector.
Maurice Jacque was a 19th/20th century painter known for figure, landscape painting. Maurice Jacque, was the son of the painter Charles Jacque, who owned an inn in Barbizon - the Auberge Ganne - where painters from the so-called Barbizon school used to stay.
The Place du Tertre (French pronunciation: [plas dy tɛʁtʁ]) is a square in the 18th arrondissement of Paris, France. Only a few streets away from the Basilica of the Sacré Cœur and the Lapin Agile cabaret, it is near the summit of the city's elevated Montmartre quarter.
