Original vintage travel advertising poster for BOAC World Air Routes Western Hemisphere featuring a pictorial map with colourful illustrations of people in national dress, places of historic interest, mountain ranges, animals and ships at sea with a decorative compass point on the Atlantic Ocean, the airline route marked between the cities around the world with the Tropic of Cancer, Equator and Tropic of Capricorn lines over the continents and the North Atlantic Ocean and South Atlantic Ocean, the stylised title text above with the Speedbird logo (also featured on the border frame) and the slogan - Linking the Old World and the New - on a scroll below the compass. Issued by British Overseas Airways Corporation in Association with Qantas Empire Airways Limited, South African Airways and Tasman Empire Airways. The British Overseas Airways Corporation / BOAC was the British state airline created in 1940-1946 as the result of a merger between Imperial Airways and British Airways Ltd, introducing the world's first passenger jets to its service in 1952 and merging again in 1971-1974 to create British Airways / BA. Printed in Great Britain by McCorquodale and Co Ltd. Good condition, restored paper losses on right margin, restored tears on edges, minor staining, backed on linen.
