About the artist:
David Konigsberg is a conceptual realist who works across media and painting genres to portray transitional spaces, metaphoric moments and alternative histories. A long-time member of the Gowanus and Red Hook artist communities in Brooklyn, he is now based in Hudson and employs the area's landscapes as the setting and sometimes subject of his work.
Artist Statement:
In many ways, this is a more intimate and personal group of paintings than in years past in that it draws from heavily from personal experience and my everyday surroundings, and rather than take this to another level of imaginary landscape and history, I stay in the moment and let the forces within that resonate with the viewer. In particular, the landscapes in this show draw from my long walks nearby and climbs in the Catskills. I find these walks and adventures among ancient mountains spiritual and deeply rewarding.
At the same time, I have this habit of juxtaposing minuteness and immensity, and introduce, as well, the experience of my garden, a highly structured urban oasis whose most rebellious and delightful aspects are accidental poppies between the beds of unruly zinnias. In this group, I focus on what the garden produces in a collection of still lives and figures.
These days, I find myself less inclined to make art that is supposed to be “about something” and am comfortable with letting metaphor reveal itself in quiet and unexpected ways. In fact, I’d say that many of these paintings took be by surprise. Although executed squarely within the traditions of landscape and still life, they have a life of their own. And to me, at least, they seem to come from somewhere beyond my control.
David Konigsberg is an accomplished artist, exhibiting on a national scale. His work has been represented by Carrie Haddad Gallery based in Hudson, NY for over 15 years.

About the Artist:
Born and raised in north central Minnesota, Samantha French graduated from the Minneapolis College of Art and Design in 2005. French’s current body of work explores the idea of escape, the tranquility and nostalgia for the lazy summer days of her childhood. The series is inspired by Samantha’s own reflections and memories of her childhood summers spent in the lakes of Northern Minnesota. French actively exhibits her paintings and is included in many private and public collections throughout the country while her work has garnered extensive international and national press. She is a full-time painter and keeps a studio in New York’s Hudson Valley.
"My current body of work is focused on swimmers underwater and above. Using vague yet consuming memories from my childhood summers spent immersed in the tepid lakes of northern Minnesota, I attempt to recreate the quiet tranquility of water and nature; of days spent sinking and floating, still and peaceful. These paintings are a link to my home and continual search for the feeling of the sun on my face and warm summer days at the lake. They are my escape, a subtle reprieve from the day-to-day. At the same time, I am drawn to an idealistic time before my own, where swim caps and wool swimsuits were commonplace. This combination of memory, observation and photography has allowed me to preserve the transitory qualities of water and remembrance."

This abstract minimalist painting is made with repurposed pieces of found fabrics in complementary tones of teal, indigo, and beige on an encaustic white background. The fabrics, which are adhered to a light wood Birch panel and layered with a subtle layer of encaustic, are arranged in a whimsical motif that accentuates the spontaneous dyed patterns. The layers of fabric and encaustic create a textured, impasto surface.
About the artist:
Alaina Enslen expresses her artistic vision through repurposed fabrics infused with beeswax. The Cornwall-On-Hudson based artist collects pieces of textile that evoke memory, tradition, or experience like cherished worn heirlooms, discarded clothes, and religious garments, which are then assembled on panel in an abstract patchwork. Favoring fabrics with a neutral or subtle cool palette, she flattens and frays the material to explore color, form, and lines, reimaging used cloth...
