Italia mit…Corsica, Sardinia und Sicilia. Geographia Universalis, Vetus et Nova, complectens Claidii Prolemaei Alexandrini enarrationis libros VIII. Basel, Heinrich Petri, 1542. Engraving. Later hand-coloring. Munster's Cosmographia was one of the most influential works of the 16th Century. The work was first issued in 1545 and expanded and reissued in many editions and many different languages from 1545 to 1628. Munster was one of the most influential map makers of the 16th Century. His Cosmographia was the most widely read work of the 16th and early 17th Century, incorporating more than 100 maps and city views of important places around the world.
