Antonio de Felipe was born in Valencia in 1965. Ever since a very young age he has felt an artistic drive that led him to earn a fine arts degree at the University of Valencia. In 1996 he moved to Madrid where he has his studio.
The work of Antonio de Felipe is a constant source of fascination and surprises. It is a great pleasure to witness how the artist’s ingenious world of ideas and his sense of humour are constantly evolving. His subject worlds form a surprising genre blend of striking contrasts, a linking of series characters, classical art and commercialism side by side with contemporary icon worship.
Antonio de Felipe has developed his extensive work in different series like, Las Vacas Logotipos and Popsport among others. In the serie Cinemaspop Antonio de Felipe has painted portraits of brilliant actors whose icon status is secure. Condition is excellent. This portfolio is very rare and rarely in this quality of condition. I can send additional images showing the pristine condition of the folio.
This is the 1944 “The Cowboy Builds a Loop” portfolio from the fine art estate of Lon Megargee.
It contains 16 images chosen from his 1933 original book “The Cowboy
Builds a Loop”, which contains 28 plates and poems. The 1944 portfolio was created as
an extension of the book which was no longer available. The prints were likely done on a letter set press using the images from the 1933 book and are not the original block prints, which are larger. I don’t know how many of the 1944 portfolios were made, but I don’t feel that they were produced in large numbers as would be done today. The foreword is written by Oren Arnold, novelist, journalist, and humorist, 1900-1980.
Paper size is 12 x 8.75 inches, images vary within that size. Portfolio contains 16 prints.
Creator of the iconic logo for the Stetson Hat Company, " Last Drop From his Stetson", still in use today.

At age 13, Lon Megargee came to Phoenix in 1896 following the death of his father in Philadelphia. For several years he resided with relatives while working at an uncle’s dairy farm and at odd jobs. He returned to Philadelphia in 1898 – 1899 in order to attend drawing classes at the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts. Back in Phoenix in 1899, he decided at the age of 16 to try to make his living as a cowboy. Lon moved to the cow country of Wickenburg where he was hired by Tex Singleton’s Bull Ranch. Original World War 2 Fire Away! Buy Extra Bonds. Linen backed. Color poster of two sailors on a Navy ship at sea. One sailor uses a searchlight, and the other is looking through binoculars. The sailors wear blue jackets and knitted "watch caps". A U.S. flag can be seen on the ship deck below.

Artist George Schrieber (1904-1977) designed this war bond poster after the U.S.S. Dorado, a Gato-class submarine, was sunk off the coast of Cuba by a German land mine.
Georges Schreiber (1904-1977) commemorates the sinking of the USS Dorado submarine in this 1944 War Bonds poster entitled Fire Away for the Fifth War Loan. Schreiber sailed aboard the ship in the summer of 1943 and had a personal connection to the tragedy. USS Dorado (SS-248) was a Gato-class submarine. Her keel was laid down on 27 August 1942 by the Electric Boat Company of Groton, Connecticut and was commissioned on 28 August 1943 under the command of Lieutenant Commander Earle Caffrey Schneider. The USS Dorado sailed for the Panama Canal for use in the East Asia war effort. The submarine was sunk off the coast of Cuba due to a minefield left by a German-Nazi U Boat.
