About the Item

Totem designed by Alessandro Mendini (1931–2019), crafted in ceramic with a vibrant high-gloss glaze. The piece is composed of four independent sections, making it fully detachable and reconfigurable. Made in Italy, this sculptural object reflects Mendini’s unmistakable visual language, where architecture, art, and design converge seamlessly. Measurements: Ø 54 × H 185 cm Mendini, a pivotal figure in 20th-century Italian design, was an architect, painter, and industrial designer renowned for blending cultural references, humor, and formal experimentation. He was awarded the Compasso d’Oro in 1979, and his works are held in the permanent collections of the Museum of Modern Art (MoMA) and the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York, as well as the Centre Georges Pompidou in Paris. This Totem is an outstanding example of Mendini’s postmodern vision, standing at the crossroads between collectible design and contemporary sculpture. Its rarity and excellent preservation make it a unique collector’s piece for connoisseurs of Italian design and international art.
