About the Item
Drawing inspiration from ancient ceramic traditions, including Korean pottery and the Japanese wabi-sabi aesthetic, Laura Pasquino (Grège Gallery) explores the beauty of imperfection and the expressive power of organic forms. "Nest 1", like all her creations, reflects a constant pursuit of simplicity and emotional depth, where every detail—whether intentional or accidental—contributes to the authenticity of the work.
Laura’s pieces balance functionality and sculpture, celebrating asymmetry, raw textures, and the intrinsic qualities of clay. Often left unglazed to honor the material in its purest form, her works bear the imprints of her creative process. These marks—tool traces or fingerprints—capture an intimate moment between the artist and the medium, imbuing each creation with a unique soul.
With an intuitive approach, she transforms spheres, volumes, and surfaces into compositions that feel both ancient and resolutely contemporary. Each ceramic piece is handcrafted using natural stoneware clay, making it truly one of a kind and resonating with a delicate balance between strength and fragility.
Accompanied by a certificate of authenticity, "Nest 1" is far more than a decorative object—it is a timeless work of art, steeped in history, memory, and a profound connection to its material.

Laura Pasquino (b. 1987, Estonia) is a ceramic artist based in Amsterdam. Before establishing her studio in 2019, she honed her craft in Kyoto and Lisbon, shaping a practice rooted in nature’s textures and forms. Her work is distinguished by its minimalist aesthetic, embracing imperfection as a defining element. Often leaving her pieces unglazed, she highlights the raw tactility of clay, creating vessels and sculptures that reflect a balance between simplicity and depth. Guided by both traditional techniques and contemporary exploration, her process allows material and intuition to dictate the final form. Pasquino also collaborates on commissioned works for architectural and interior design projects, bringing an organic sensibility to crafted spaces.
