About the Item
Asymmetric Two-Sided Surrealist Hanging Sculpture by Mickey Kane
Dual-sided biomorphic construction by Mickey "Kano" Kane (American, 1939-2002). This piece features smooth, organic edges around both sides. On one side, a bold orange and purple fuse together with geometric and organic detail work/carving across the surface. On the other side, wave-like ridges are carved into the wood. These undulating forms are covered in a mottled surface of orange and rust tones, creating a surface evocative of ceramic glazes. Within these rust tones is a carved area of shimmering purple and blue, tying in the color contrast from the aforementioned side. This piece is an excellent example of Kano's mastery of surface finishes.
Size: 28"H x 12"W
Has two holes for hanging on the top of the piece.
Unsigned, purchased in a collection of the artists work.
Mickey “Kano” Kane (American, 1939-2002) was born in Illinois and grew up in Sacramento, CA. Kane moved to the Pacific Coast and worked on mixed media panels - which he would refer to as a “Totem” – and detailed collage compositions. His collage work is generally satirical or critical in nature, frequently dealing with themes of money, capitalism, government, power, and debt. By contrast, his “Totem” sculptural work is abstract and free of direct symbolism, focusing instead on the aesthetics of the composition.
Original Member, Artist’s Cooperative Gallery
Artist’s Statement:
The Totem is indicative of the unfolding 21st Century, graphically and metaphorically. It is neither one side nor the other, nor does one side challenge or compete with the other. Each side cooperates and thus enhances the other so that both "sides" transcend that definition into a composition revealing that, indeed, the whole is greater than the sum of its parts. The Totem reflects the inner harmony that all sides, whether two or two thousand, are striving to manifest in their own inimitable way.

GS06, 3D Wall Sculpture, Geometric Abstract Multicolor
By Zach Touchon
Located in Beverly Hills, CA
This artwork is part of a series called "Geometric Sculpture" and is a unique 3D sculpture that features a variety of vibrant colors including yellow, orange, red, blue, dark blue, and black. The sculpture is abstract in nature and showcases geometric shapes that add actual depth and space to the piece, making it visually striking and aesthetically pleasing to the viewer.
Zach Touchon has expressed a desire to step outside the traditional format and focus on movement and 3D effects. As a result, the sculpture creates shadows that further enhance the 3D effect, making the piece truly dynamic and engaging. Touchon has also mentioned his goal to create even larger pieces in the future, pushing the boundaries of the series and the medium itself.
Overall, this artwork is a visually stunning and unique addition to the "Geometric Sculpture" series, showcasing the artist's dedication to creating pieces that challenge traditional art forms and create a sense of depth and movement.

Zach Touchon is a second-generation and a successor to his famous father's, Cecil Touchon's, artistic path.
By rethinking abstract expressionism ideas, using different media he creates large abstract artwork along with small collages, huge murals, and interior installations. The main focus of his art is depth and space and finding a semantic and aesthetic balance between them.
As a muralist, Touchon joins the ranks of such great LA street artists as WRDSMTH, Retna, Shepard Fairy, and Dirt Cobain...
