Sara Fine-Wilson's ”Grasp” is a gestural 10 x 8 x 5.5 inch ceramic sculpture in pale yellow with accents of cream, white and tan. In this graceful and evocative sculpture individual slab elements are assembled, layered in glaze and soda fired. This process emphasizes the smooth fluid quality of the form. Fine-Wilson combines both raw and refined aesthetic qualities in her work by incorporating smooth, glossy, matte, rough and cracked surfaces.
