About the Item

The unmistakable silhouette of a moose—one of Canada’s iconic images is celebrated in this sculpture by Charlie Pachter. As a little boy, pop artist Pachter once met a moose at a local fair. The memory of that encounter stayed with him and decades later the moose remains one of his most popular images. This playful piece is a table top sculpture of a moose attached to a stand. It is forged from aluminum with a baked enamel finish in jet black. “I did for the moose what Andy Warhol did for Marilyn Monroe.” Charlie Pachter A painter, printmaker, sculptor, designer, and author, Pachter is a graduate of the University of Toronto and the Sorbonne-Paris. He is an Officer of the prestigious Order of Canada, a Chevalier of France's Ordre des Arts et des Lettres, and twice a recipient of the Queen's Jubilee medal. He has honorary doctorate degrees from the Ontario College of Art & Design, the University of Toronto, and Brock University. His paintings and sculptures are in public and private collections around the world.
