La scultura, probabilmente commissionata dalla famiglia Fortunoff, è pubblicata a pagina 80 del catalogo "The Art of Giancarlo Impiglia", edito da Rizzoli New York.
Giancarlo Impiglia ha creato una serie di sculture chiamata “Companions”, che riproduce in scala naturale i soggetti più iconici dei suoi dipinti, dipinti sia sul fronte che sul retro. Con questa serie, Giancarlo Impiglia intendeva far uscire i protagonisti dalle scene pittoriche, donando loro un’identità autonoma e tridimensionale.
La sua produzione segue lo stile pittorico dell'Art Déco, fenomeno che interessò il periodo fra il 1919 e il 1940. Si tratta di uno stile caratterizzato da linee geometriche e forme angolari.
La scultura, realizzata in acrilico su legno, misura 112x46x246 cm. È in buone condizioni di conservazione e ha subito una pulizia della superficie pittorica. La firma e la data sono visibili sia sul lato sinistro della base che sul retro.

Giancarlo Impiglia
Born in Rome, Giancarlo Impiglia moved to New York in the ‘70s, where he established a signature style on the shoulders of modernism, his technical skill underpinning his eclecticism and allowing him to indulge in an appetite for complexity. His work has been exhibited in numerous galleries around the world and is part of prominent collections including The Victoria and Albert Museum's and the Absolut Art Collection. Three publications are dedicated to his work: Giancarlo Impiglia, Paintings for the Queens & Collected Works (2012), The Art of Giancarlo Impiglia (1995), and Giancarlo Impiglia: Recent Work (1982).
