Gustave FONTAINE ( Etterbeek 1877-1952 Bruxelles).
Scultore policromo e pittore.
Seguì dei corsi a Saint-Josse-ten-Noode, dopodiché continuò la sua formazione all'Accademia di Bruxelles e con lo scultore Julien Dillen (1901-1903).
Dal 1919 al 1925 visse a Parigi, dipingendo e scolpendo.
Nel 1921 espone al Salon d'Automne e compie viaggi di studio in Italia, Germania, Svizzera e Olanda. Cofondatore nel 1918 del Cercle des Quinze con Jos Albert, Brusselmans, Spilliaert, Schirren, Paerels, Parent, Martens, Leroux, Fontaine, De Kat, Dehoy, Counhaye, Cockx, Capouillé.
Dopo la guerra, Gustave Fontaine realizzò diversi monumenti di guerra, tra cui i più conosciuti, a Liegi, le statue di pietra: La Résistance Liégeoise e Le Fusillé.
