About the Item

"LarA 001" is a unique sculpture crafted in cement by Spanish artist Jose Perozo in 2024. Part of the LarA series, this piece measures 21 x 29 x 17 cm and merges the female form with architectural structures, reflecting on the human body as a physical and enduring home. It invites the viewer to consider the idea of self-inhabitation, where the body is both a shelter and a space of personal and collective identity. Each sculpture in this series is individually hand-tinted and finished with a semi-matte varnish. Created using a silicone mold, the cement retains material-specific characteristics such as small bubbles, tonal variations, and minor surface marks, emphasizing its handmade and unique qualities. The composition includes high-strength cement with fine aggregates for detailed modeling, acrylic fibers to prevent cracking, and a water reducer to ensure fluidity during production. This sculpture is securely shipped in a custom-made box to guarantee its safe transport and arrival. José Perozo (Vigo, 1978) is a Spanish sculptor with a background in Sculpture from Mestre Mateo in Compostela and Scenic Machinery and Set Construction from Escénica in Granada. His artistic trajectory is characterized by an exploration of the relationship between the human body and architecture, employing an industrial and scenographic language that blends the dreamlike with the structural. His work reflects a conceptual approach, using raw materials and forms to investigate themes of identity, inhabitation, and the interplay between the physical and the abstract. Since 2017, Perozo has presented a series of solo exhibitions that have defined his artistic identity. Notable among these are Bastións, held at the University Church of Santiago de Compostela, and Fragmentaria, developed during his residency at the Eugenio Granell Foundation, where he began to reinterpret the human body as an architectural construct. His work gained international visibility in 2020 with an exhibition at the PO.RO.S Museum in Coimbra (Portugal) and participation in global projects such as the Ibero-American Rotary Club collective exhibition in Portugal. Highlights of his recent career include the solo show ANTROPOTECTURA at Monty4 Gallery (A Coruña) in 2023 and appearances at major art fairs like Hybrid Art Fair and Estampa (Madrid). Perozo's collaborations with galleries such as José Lorenzo, La Doce, and Espacio Beny further underscore the evolution and depth of his sculptural practice, which continues to bridge the figurative and the conceptual.

Hybrid Architectural Figurative Bust in Black Cement. Anthropotectura “LarA 011”
By Jose Perozo
Located in FISTERRA, ES
“LarA 011” is a unique architectural sculpture from the Antropotectura series by Spanish artist José Perozo. Cast in black pigmented cement, this head-and-shoulders bust presents a fusion of the human figure with modular architectural volumes. The vertical extension of block-like forms emerges from the cranial area, transforming the head into a structural topography. This hybrid configuration invites reflection on the human body as both inhabited and inhabiting — a site of memory, construction, and symbolic permanence. The formal arrangement of the sculpture is symmetrical but discontinuous, with geometric protrusions interrupting the organic contours of the face. These elements suggest urban formations, perhaps ruins or unfinished constructions, anchored to the surface of the skin. This layered structure evokes the aesthetic of posthuman figuration and resonates with speculative architectural languages often seen in anime environments — particularly those of Studio Ghibli or early cybernetic landscapes. The matte black surface finish accentuates the raw tactility of the material. Subtle tonal variations, occasional air pockets, and manual traces from the casting process are preserved, underscoring the artist’s interest in the sculptural language of construction materials. These choices align with the conceptual underpinning of Antropotectura, a term coined by Perozo to describe his ongoing investigation into the convergence of embodiment and architecture.
