About the Item

Laure Krug. Contemporary French artist Holder of a license in plastic arts, she naturally turns to sculpture. Materials: She begins by working the soil and masters the different cooking techniques, raku, slip, enamel. Limited in these formats by terracotta, Laure seeks new materials for her creativity. New materials interested her, and after extensive experience in small formats, she embarked on the creation of sculptures in resin and fiberglass. This new technique allows him to create large-sized pieces that are resistant to bad weather and can be exhibited outdoors. Self-taught, she uses different materials before mastering polyester, glass fibers, surface fibers, acrylic resins. Moving from a free creation, in 2013 she was introduced to the technique of molding and resin prints; the pieces are multiplying and the national and international representations of gallery owners too. The subject: Her subject is already there, will be the woman, the round, full, funny and tender woman. A recurring character is born then, generous shapes, funny little quilts on the head, half woman half child, she will be the muse of his work. Desires for colors and textures, to mix genres and make great creative cuisine; this is what will be his motto. These pieces: From sculptures to paintings, everything nourishes his creativity. His PopUp, his Busts, his Pasdames are not always "great ladies", often naughty or sassy, they illustrate through everyday life, our attitudes sometimes ridiculous or moving but always colorful, playful and original. A word from Laure: “I don't do Sculpture, I don't do Art, I tell myself stories that I put into shape. I give movement, I add color, I am at the same time a screenwriter, director of photography and costume designer, and I offer you a vision of my desires, my desires, my laughter. And you, you are the actors of my work, you interpret, you love, you vibrate and you project yourself in these light and feminine pieces My intentions escape me to become what you see there ... here is my work, here is our collaboration ... My pasdames are adventurers, sexy and ridiculous, warriors with hearts everywhere, butterflies in their hair and in their stomachs, they are bright and positive. They bite into yellow, dress in pink and jump with their feet together in blue, strong enough to splash green on us. This is my universe, this is the beginning of the story ... "

About I+ Series: “No matter who you are, no matter how you look, what your racial, religious, or national background might be, we are all born equal. We should strive to achieve unity and acceptance. It is a daily reminder to me when I create ceramic sculpture that everyone deserves a fair and accepting existence and that everyone can make choices that will lead to a better life. A ceramic feature's naivety is a reminder that each of us must thrive, both within ourselves and within our communities, to make the universe a more POSITIVE place.” This piece is part of an edition of 15 and it comes signed and numbered.
