About the Item

Laurence Perratzi is a French figurative artist exploring the body’s expression. Her work is a reflection on movement, strongly influenced by her athletic background where poise and balance are paramount. The figures challenge gravity with subtle poses or the occasional snapshot of a body in movement. Although Laurence is known for her work in Bronze, her “Trees” and “Clouds” series are an explosion of joy and freedom where she gives way to her fantasies. She takes on materials such as plaster, wood, fiberglass and jesmonite, achieving intimate and powerful sculptures. Unlike her bronze sculptures that are usually made in a limited edition of eight, the Trees and Clouds are all unique, one-off pieces. In 2001, Laurence decided to dedicate herself fully to her true passion: sculpture. She started to work under the tuition of various sculptors such as Jean-Charles Mainardis, Jan Buckley and Hywell Pratley, and held her first exhibition in 2003 in Paris. She is now exhibited in London at the London Art Fair, Lapada, The British Art Fair, Saatchi & Saatchi, and Saatchi Art, as well as in Paris, Singapore, Brussels and the United States. Her work has also been displayed in the Adornes Domain Museum in Bruges, at the Royal Opera of London, the “Residence” of the French ambassador in London and the lobby of London hotels such as The Waldorf.
