About the Item

The Sedan Chair is a bronze sculpture by contemporary artist Marine de Soos, dimensions are 24 cm × 37 cm × 11 cm (9.4 × 14.6 × 4.3 in). The sculpture is signed and numbered, it is part of a limited edition of 8 editions + 4 artist’s proofs, and comes with a certificate of authenticity. This sculpture represents a traditional oriental scene: a boy seated in a sedan chair, born by two men wearing Asian style conical hats. Le Palanquin is a bronze sculpture by French contemporary artist Marine de Soos, part of her Figure series. This figurative work depicts a traditional palanquin—a transport chair suspended from poles—carrying a child. The scene features two slender, barefoot men dressed in simple trousers and traditional Chinese hats, bearing the weight of the palanquin. Drawing from her extensive travels through the Far East, Marine de Soos transforms real or imagined moments into bronze, inviting viewers into gently poetic journeys toward distant horizons. Marine de Soos has long cultivated a sense of openness to the world, which deeply informs both her life and her artistic practice. Each sculpture is rooted in her memories—especially of African and Asian landscapes—and every image she brings to life is charged with feeling. As she explains, “I can only work when I am in an emotional state.” Emotion is both her compass and destination, resulting in works that offer a contemplative voyage imbued with quiet, personal poetry.
