About the Item
Born in Amsterdam in 1939, Blik is an Anglo-Dutch artist whose work is exhibited at major London and international art fairs. Having spent the majority of his 40-year career creating powerful figurative male pieces, linked, subconsciously, to his childhood experience of Nazi persecution, Blik, now in his eighties, has begun creating innovative new works.
The themes of hope, optimism and belief in the future are intrinsic to Maurice Blik’s work. His figurative forms convey and irrepressible joy of life, emerging to confront the viewer with an energy that is both startling and inspiring.
Maurice Bilk has exhibited extensively in the UK and throughout the USA where he has been awarded residency by the U.S. Government ‘as a person of extraordinary artist ability' and he was elected and served as president to The Royal Society of Sculptors. He has created a variety of commissions and has work in many public and private collections in the UK, Europe and the U.S.
Any sculpture of Blik's will be a great investment to any collection.
