Robert Lach
Surreal small sculpture: 'Colony XII'

2021

About the Item

I construct sculptures based on the architecture of bird, animal, and insect homes. Viscerally attracted by their nostalgia, ware, and uselessness, I mimic their design, form and structure patterns using locally gathered objects, trash, and recycled materials. My aesthetics are based on the function and utility of the found objects. I repurpose their form. The suitcases represent the transitory nature of home by imitating the behavior of birds, and connecting this to my childhood domestic reality of living in many places and not feeling rooted. Growing up this way, I found solace in nature. Building nests is a ritual expression: an attempt at stability and shelter replacing the transience of my childhood home. Art is informed by personal narratives. I create art as a mechanism to express or give voice to the human condition. I view art making as a holistic process and vehicle of healing.

Fiber Wall Sculpture: 'Halo'
By Federica Patera and Andrea Sbra Pereg
Located in New York, NY
Federica Patera and Andrea Sbra Perego, namely tying literature and art with a thread. Their collaboration combines the experiences of both in a common work, with the intention of being a bridge, a confluence of the two disciplines. The duo was officially born in 2017 with the RAR project, which focuses on the value of the analogy in literature. At the heart of their investigation is the dynamic that leads reading to become writing, and other way the user to become a creator, a maker, mixing roles. The exchange that is established guarantees the transmission, that it goes beyond repetition and finds its completion in transformation. The eternity of an experience, whatever it is (physical, material, emotional, intellectual), is measured by its capacity to be an eternal breeding ground for discovery and knowledge. Their work was exhibited in solo shows by art galleries, such as Raffaella De Chirico Contemporary Art in Turin and Manuel Zoia Gallery in Milan, and in Art Fair such as ArtVerona and WOP in Lugano (CH). In 2021, they were finalists in the Cramum Award. Between October 2022 and January 2023, they took part in the World Textile Biennale – Italian Act, a series of three exhibitions curated by Barbara Pavan. In January 2023 they attended their first group show in New York at the Ivy Brown...

Fiber Sculpture: 'IMAGINATION'
By Federica Patera and Andrea Sbra Pereg
Located in New York, NY
Image, Imagination, Imitation: we can think these three words come from the roots √Im, but it’s not true. It’s necessary to combine the proposition in with mi, that is, √Mei, to obtain this kind of words. √Mei recalls something that catch the attention, that is intermittent and that can change. For the three following artworks we decided to decline the root starting from the concepts of light and sound, using a set of different languages, such as English, Russian, Sanskrit, Latin, Avestan, Greek and Persian, and to create shapes...
