Stefano Bombardieri is known for large figurative sculptures of wild animals. The son of sculptor Remo Bombardieri, the artist experimented with the medium from a young age. Influenced by the Futurists, notably the pioneering Italian painters Giacomo Balla and Umberto Boccioni, Bombardieri’s thematic focus is on time, perception, and animated subjects. He renders his figures in a realistic manner but with surreal and fantastical elements. In 2007 and 2011, Bombardieri participated in the Venice Biennale. He has also exhibited at the Natural History Museum of Florence and the Erarta Museum. His sculptures have been installed in the Botanical Garden of Padua and the Grand Palais.
