About the Item
This terra-cotta sculpture no doubt depicts the bust of Roman Emperor or Senator in classical dress gazing over his left shoulder. This is a magnificently robust life size bust. His robe has been fired in a white glaze. The bust has a 7" stand/pedestal as its base. The underside of the base is signed illegibly and stamped, "MADE IN ITALY". The 4 foot pedestal shown in the in situ picture is not a part of the bust and is not included.
The contrasting colors of the glaze and unglazed and the bust's detail make this a unique and beautiful classic sculpture reminiscent of ancient roman art.
