Antique Victorian Burr Walnut Partners Pedestal Desk 19th Century

This is a fine and very rare antique Victorian burr walnut twin pedestal partners desk, Circa 1860 in date.
It is made from fabulous burr walnut, the rectangular top with a fabulous inset gold tooled green leather writing surface.
One side has an arrangement of three drawers in the frieze over a pair of pedestals each with three graduated drawers, the other side has a central frieze drawer with a cupboard in each pedestal, each opens to a central shelf.
The desk is fitted with the original turned walnut handles and it stands on a plinth base raised on brass castors.
The desk has its original locks and keys and the locks are stamped H&C, By Royal Letters Patent.

A fantastic antique Victorian mahogany and gilded twin pedestal dining table bearing the impressed mark of the renowned cabinet makers and retailers Wylie & Lochhead, and circa 1850 in date.
The oval shaped table is made from solid mahogany and has four leaves which can be added or removed as required to suit the occasion by a special winding mechanism.
It is raised on a pair of beautifully carved and gilded pedestal bases with downswept legs terminating in scroll feet and the original brass and porcelain recessed castors.

Antique Furniture by the Scottish cabinet makers Wylie & Lochhead, means the piece is going to be of superb quality and a very high level of craftsmanship. They were famous for their stunning selection of wardrobes, dining chairs and dining tables.
In 1829 Wylie & Lochhead was started by cabinetmakers Robert Wylie and William Lochhead and they quickly became very successful with with a string of workshops, showrooms and warehouses in Glasgow employing over 1700 workers. By the 1900s they were a household name across Scotland, renowned for their artistic designs and high levels of craftsmanship.

This is a wonderful antique late Victorian mahogany partners pedestal desk, circa 1880 in date.
The rectanglular top features a stunning inset green and gold tooled leather writing surface. This stunning desk is the same on each side.
Each side is fitted with three frieze drawers, three further drawers in one pedestal and a cupboard to the other pedestal, all fitted with the original brass drop handles.
The drawers are all oak lined and the pedestals are raised on plinth bases with brass castors underneath.
Complete with original brass locks and keys.

The rectanglular top is satinwood crosbanded and inset with a stunning gold tooled green leather writing surface. individual purpose. This particular example is worth considering for a variety

A Very Good Quality 19th Century, Regency Period Mahogany Tea Table, Having Superbly Figured Foldover Top With Banded Decoration And Well Figured Interior Retaining Good Surface And Patina, Above Elegantly Figured Frieze With Matchstick Fluted Decoration, Raised On Rare Extravagant Turned Sabre Legs With Carved Scrolling Decoration To Feet.
As suggested by the name, tea tables were made to serve tea from. Often part of a pair, with an identical matching card table, or even a wider suite of furniture they would simply stand to one side in a room and be pulled out, then opened up when required to allow for the placement of trays containing all that is required to serve tea from.
Now of course aside from its original purpose this table suits a whole variety of different spaces around the home. It could be used as a console table, a pier table, a simple side table or even as a card games table.
Constructed from well figured, high grade mahogany which would have been expensive to purchase in the late 18th century it is incredibly elegant and very good quality. Clearly a lot of effort has gone into the overall look of the table and the cabinet making has been well executed.
The legs are quite spectacular, a design which we have actually never come across before. They are certainly something very special and, dare we say it, possibly even a unique feature, which will no doubt be a talking point once the table is standing proudly in position.
