Big Sur Sofa by MICHAEL HILAL
By Michael Hilal
Located in Antwerpen, BE
The Big Sur sofa by MICHAEL HILAL, which he describes “a love letter to California”. The varied topography of Hilal’s home state from mountains to rugged shoreline is the starting point for Big Sur’s shifting interplay of organic shapes. Configurations engage and form spaces for hanging out, catnapping, toasting cocktails or telling secrets. Conceived of as a room’s center-of-gravity, rather than a wallflower, the sofa transforms into a natural gathering place. The ease of California living, a signature concept in Hilal’s work, is reflected in the casual configurations and reconfigurations. The Collection includes two sofa configurations: BIG SUR 1.1 – A modern, sculptural take on a tête-à-tête, this sofa floats away from the wall, offering all sides for lounging and conversation. The single main component is doubled up and features two satellite stools. BIG SUR 1.2 – A 1970s conversation pit...

Topos Chair by Gruppo Dam for Gruppo Industriale Busnelli, 1969
By Gruppo DAM (Designer Associati Milano)
Located in Misinto, IT
In 1968, Gianni Pareschi, the G 14 (Gianni Pareschi, along with Roberto Ubaldi, Gianfranco Facchetti, Pino Pensotti, Umberto Orsoni), Ezio Didone, and Alberto Colombi founded Gruppo Dam, which stands for Designer Associati Milano. Together, they created significant products for Gruppo Industriale Busnelli (Topos, Armadillo, Baffo, Zen, Materasso...) and worked on shaping the company's image, from trade show presentations fair to advertising campaigns. They were known for their unconventional and deeply visionary ideas and concepts for the time. In addition, Gruppo Dam designed original ceramic items such as tiles, flower pots, ashtrays, for the historic ceramics company Cedit. In 1970, they also designed a series of models for a renowned Venetian company specializing in chandeliers and blown glass objects. The Gruppo Dam signed various ideological and programmatic design manifestos and organized a major exhibition of the group's products in Milan at the Centro Domus. Bibliography: Italian Look, Federlegno Italia, p. 25, Year 1972 - Modern chairs 1918-70, The Whitechapel Art Gallery, p. 47, Year 1970 - New furniture / Nue mobel 10, Ed. Henri Jacot Carriage Clock with Strike Repeat Function
Located in Amersham, GB
This superb gorge cased carriage clock is beautifully gilded, with a crisp white enamel dial and a roman chapter ring and outer arabic minutes. The eight day two train movement is regulated by a slivered English lever platform escapement, striking on a blued steel gong, with hour repeat button. The case is numbered 10135 throughout, this coupled with the maker’s mark showing the dates of awards on the front plate, means we can date the clock to between 1878 and 1889. The front and back plates are both marked with Jacot stamps. The front with the medal stamp listing the exposition awards Jacot had won. Bronzes in 1855 and 1862, and silver medals in 1867 and 1878. This stamp did not change until 1889 when Jacot junior won the companies first gold medal. The back plate shows the parrot trademark stamp with the initials HJ which came into use in 1878. The back of the dial is also signed by the enameller and numbered with the serial number. This is a very thoroughly marked and numbered clock in excellent condition. Henri Jacot...
